Factory O
Welcome to Factory O, a word-powered automation game where you mine ores as letters! Slice, glue, and assemble the alphabet into new words using a network of machines. Meet the increasing demands of the HUB to unlock new tools and automate language itself!
General Controls:
- WASD to move the camera. Note that the area you're limited to gets larger as you make progress.
- Click on the hotbar, or use number keys 1-6 to select your machine.
- Click to place selected machine, you can also drag to place multiple.
- Right click to delete machines, drag to delete multiple.
- Not all machines are unlocked at the start of the game, but they all become unlocked by the end.
Machine-Specific Controls / Hints:
Each machine has an in-game tooltip explaining its function, but playtesters have reported some confusion, so I added clarifications about specific machines below:
- Conveyer Belt
- Clicking and dragging will make the belt form a continuous strip.
- You can click and drag new belts over existing belts, which will replace them.
- You can drag a belt line onto the input of a machine, forcing the belt to point into the machine.
- Miner
- You can only place these on ore patches. Only one corner of the machine needs to be on an ore patch to extract the ore.
- Press T to rotate the direction of the output slot.
- Slicer
- Hover over a placed slicer to edit it.
- Press T to swap the outputs.
- Use the mouse wheel or arrow keys to change the number (N).
- Combiner
- Hover over a placed combiner to edit it.
- Press T to edit which input gets placed first when the two inputs get glued together. This will be visually reflected on the texture.
Help, I'm Stuck!
- Have you tried moving further out? The camera boundary expands when you make progress, revealing more ore patches.
- Can't figure out how to get past the big CLOSED door? Is there any word you can make that might cause something to not be CLOSED?
This was made the week of 1/27/2025 for the Bigmode Game Jam! I'm quite happy with how it turned out, but please remember that it will likely contain bugs, lag, and exploits, depending on how many slicers you plop down at once! Any and all constructive criticism is greatly valued, so please don't hold back.
I hope you have fun with the game!

fun puzzle :)
Great game! Very creative. Sounds are also very satisfying.
Can't figure out how to get V
Have you tried cutting the W in half?
Just kidding, there's no V. If you see a V, I'm guessing you've beaten the game. Congrats!
I DID try cutting the W in half! Haha ooh and I was so hopeful to find an Easter egg
